The Newest Mega Evolution Sets: Delta Reign, 30th Celebration & What to Open

Colin here from The Poke Office in Kamloops. I'm just going to say it: the Mega Evolution era has been moving fast. Like, really fast. And the question I get more than any other right now is "what's new, and what should I open?" So here's my no-hype rundown of the newest sets, and what's actually inside the sealed product.

A quick look at the Mega Evolution era so far

Mega Evolution came back to the Pokémon TCG in fall 2025, and honestly it's been one of the busiest eras I've seen. Here's the run so far, with the official English release dates from The Pokémon Company:

• ME01 – Mega Evolution: September 26, 2025
• ME02 – Phantasmal Flames: November 14, 2025
• ME2.5 – Ascended Heroes: January 30, 2026
• ME03 – Perfect Order: March 27, 2026
• ME04 – Chaos Rising: May 22, 2026
• ME05 – Pitch Black: July 17, 2026
• ME5.5 – 30th Celebration: September 16, 2026
• ME06 – Delta Reign: November 6, 2026

ME06 – Delta Reign (November 6, 2026)

Delta Reign is the big one right now. Leading the way is Mega Rayquaza ex, and this is the first time Mega Rayquaza has shown up in the TCG since XY—Ancient Origins. Holy smokes, that's a while. It's joined by Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex.

The new mechanic is the Legendary Stadium. It's two Stadium cards played as a pair, and when you set them side by side they make one big extended artwork. Packs that have a Legendary Stadium include both halves, so you won't be stuck hunting for the other half. According to the official announcement, the set has over 135 cards, including:

• 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and 6 other Pokémon ex
• 6 Stadium cards that form 3 Legendary Stadiums
• 14 illustration rares, 17 ultra rares and 6 special illustration rares

Prerelease events started October 24 at participating stores, and the set hits TCG Live on November 5. Here's the official sealed lineup, all of it releasing November 6:

• Booster Display Box: 36 booster packs
• Elite Trainer Box: 9 booster packs, a full-art foil Kyogre promo, 65 card sleeves, 40 Energy cards, damage-counter dice, a coin-flip die, a plastic coin, a player's guide and a storage box
• Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box: 11 packs and two Kyogre promos (one with the Pokémon Center logo)
• Booster Bundle: 6 booster packs
• Build & Battle Box: a 40-card ready-to-play deck with one of four foil promos and 4 booster packs (available at prerelease events first)

ME5.5 – 30th Celebration (September 16, 2026)

30th Celebration marks 30 years of Pokémon, and honestly it's just a really fun set to open. A few things make it different:

• Every card is foil.
• Every booster pack has a Pikachu rare, and there are 30 different ones to collect.
• A brand-new rarity called Futuristic rare, with art by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN.
• 30 classic Pokémon cards are back, and the set has over 150 cards.

Because it's a special set, it comes in a lot of different products. Here are the official release dates:

• September 16: Elite Trainer Box (9 packs plus a full-art Nidorina promo), Pokémon ex Box (Sylveon ex or Greninja ex, 4 packs), Poster Collection (3 packs), Tech Sticker Collection (3 packs) and Knock Out Collection (2 packs)
• October 2: Booster Bundle (6 packs) and Mini Tins (2 packs each, 10 artworks to collect)
• October 30: Battle Decks (Espeon ex and Umbreon ex)
• December 4: Binder Collection (5 packs)

Fun little detail: the ETB promo is Nidorina, which is Pokédex #30.

So what should you open?

• Want a chase card and a great display piece? A 30th Celebration ETB is tough to beat. You get nine packs, and every card is foil.
• Want to play? Delta Reign brings a new mechanic and four new Mega ex, so that's the set to build around this winter.
• Buying a gift? Mini Tins and the smaller collections are affordable and look great under the tree.
